The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) runs the nationwide NSPCC Kindness Challenge, which encourages both children and adults to practice kindness in their daily lives.
In 2025, the NSPCC Kindness Challenge will take place during the first week of October, specifically from Monday, September 30th to Friday, October 4th, though schools can participate at a time that suits them best.
The challenge aims to:
Promote Empathy and Compassion: It encourages young people to think about and act kindly towards others.
- Foster Positive Behaviours: By making kindness a focus, it helps children develop positive habits.
- Fund Raising for Childline: Participants are encouraged to raise money for Childline, the NSPCC’s helpline for children.
- Create Kinder Communities: The challenge aims to spread kindness within schools and the wider community.
How everyone can get involved:
- Sign up for free resources: The NSPCC provides a wealth of free materials upon registration. This includes worksheets, activity sheets, posters, and assembly plans. These resources offer ideas for kind acts that pupils can undertake.
- Suggest and complete kind acts: Participants choose up to nine kind acts to complete during the challenge week (or at another suitable time). Examples include helping a friend, writing a thank-you note, or playing with someone new.
- Raise money: Schools and individuals can fundraise for Childline while participating in the kindness challenge.
The NSPCC emphasizes that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in creating a better world for children. By taking part in the Kindness Challenge, participants not only spread positivity but also help power Childline’s vital services for young people.
