Muscles,”Look at this little guys face as we talk about muscles!”

We did this video a few years ago now and we found it when we were revising our Youtube channel. If you have not see our Youtube channel there is a link at the bottom of this article. Muscles, learning about them, talking about them and working them are always an integral part of our classes. Seeing this little boys face as we talked about Biceps and Triceps gave us all a giggle Stretch-n-Grow Youtube

Introduction

Stretch-n-Grow classes have always emphasised muscle awareness. Teaching children about their bodies while keeping them active. By using proper muscle names and incorporating them into exercises, children gain a deeper understanding of movement and strength.

Key Muscle Groups in Stretch-n-Grow Classes:

  • Quadriceps (front of thighs) – These muscles help with running, jumping, and squatting. Activities like frog jumps and lunges strengthen them.
  • Hamstrings (back of thighs) – Essential for bending the knee and sprinting. Stretch-n-Grow includes exercises like toe touches and high kicks to keep them flexible.
  • Gluteus Maximus (buttocks) – The powerhouse for movement! Squats and hopping exercises engage these muscles.
  • Rectus Abdominis (core muscles) – These help with bending and twisting. Stretch-n-Grow uses fun activities like animal crawls and tummy-tightening exercises to build core strength.
  • Triceps (back of upper arms) – Used for pushing and lifting. Kids strengthen them with push-ups and arm raises.
  • Biceps (front of upper arms) – Help with pulling motions. Stretch-n-Grow incorporates playful movements like tug-of-war and resistance exercises.
  • Trapezius (upper back) – Supports shoulder movement. Stretching and shoulder rolls keep this muscle strong.
  • Cardiac Muscle (heart) – The most important muscle! Aerobic activities like jumping jacks and running games keep the heart healthy.

By naming muscles during activities, Stretch-n-Grow makes fitness educational and engaging. Children learn how their bodies work while developing strength, flexibility, and endurance. Would you like help crafting a themed lesson around muscle awareness for your setting?
